Marketing for Restaurants & Hospitality

Maps presence, photography, reviews and social for restaurants, cafés and hospitality businesses — decided in about a minute, on a phone.

Why this industry is different

What marketing for restaurants and hospitality actually has to solve

Hospitality is the clearest case anywhere in marketing of a website mattering less than people expect. The decision is made on a phone, usually within a minute, almost always inside Google Maps or a social feed — on the strength of photographs, current hours and the most recent handful of reviews. A beautiful website that nobody opens before choosing is a poor use of a limited budget.

The second thing to design around is the split between residents and visitors. A regular is deciding whether to come back; a visitor is choosing between you and four alternatives they have never heard of, and will pick on photographs and rating alone. Those need different content, and in most cases different channels.

How we report

  • Qualified enquiries, not impressions
  • Cost per lead by channel and campaign
  • Which searches produced revenue, not rankings
  • Speed from enquiry to first response
  • Return on total spend, including our fee

We are engineers as well as marketers, so when the problem is a slow page or an enquiry sitting unanswered, we fix the system rather than reporting it back to you. That includes our own lead management software.

What we do

Marketing services for restaurants and hospitality

In the order we would actually prioritise them, which is rarely the order an agency sells them in.

1

Google Business Profile and Maps presence

The single highest-return item in this vertical. Accurate hours including holidays, menu and price range, correct categories and attributes, and a steady flow of current photographs — of the food and room as they actually look. Most venues we audit are losing trade to nothing more than out-of-date information.

2

Review generation and response

Recency matters more here than volume: a diner reads the last five reviews, not the average of four hundred. We build asking into service so it happens naturally, and handle response — including negative reviews, where a calm, specific reply frequently reads better to future customers than the complaint reads badly.

3

Organic and paid social

This is one of the categories where social genuinely earns its place, because the product is visual and the purchase is impulsive. Paid works well for reaching visitors and nearby audiences at the moment they are deciding. Organic works when it shows real food and real people rather than filling a content calendar.

4

Direct booking and ordering

Where you take bookings or orders through a third party, every cover carries commission. Making the direct route visible and frictionless — on the profile, the site and social — moves margin without needing a single additional customer.

Local first, wherever you are

Almost everything above depends on being found in the right place rather than everywhere. We publish a page for each market we work in, written for that market rather than templated with a name swapped, because a business in a regional hub and one in a major metro face genuinely different competition and cost.

Questions worth asking

Restaurants & Hospitality marketing — frequently asked questions

The questions owners in this industry actually ask us on a first call.

How much difference do photographs really make?
More than anything else you control in this category. People choose where to eat by looking, and a venue with current, well-lit photographs of its actual food will consistently out-convert a better restaurant with poor or outdated images. It is also one of the cheapest fixes available — usually one good session, refreshed as the menu changes.
What should we do about bad reviews?
Reply calmly, specifically and once. Future customers read the exchange more carefully than the complaint, and a measured reply that addresses the actual point does more for you than the review does against you. What damages venues is not the occasional bad review — it is a pattern of them going unanswered, or a defensive reply that confirms the reviewer's account.
Do we need a new website?
Usually not first. If your Google Business Profile is incomplete or your photographs are old, fixing those will do more for covers than a redesign will. A website earns its place when it takes direct bookings or orders and saves commission, or when you run events and functions that need explaining properly. Otherwise it is rarely the constraint.
Should we push customers to order direct instead of through apps?
Where you can, yes, because the commission difference is significant on every order. The realistic approach is not to abandon the platforms — they bring genuine discovery — but to make sure anyone who already knows your name finds the direct option first, on your profile, your site and your packaging. That converts platform-acquired customers into direct ones over time.
