Marketing for Retail & Ecommerce
Paid social, retargeting, product feeds and conversion work for retailers selling online, in store, or both.
What marketing for retail and ecommerce actually has to solve
Ecommerce is the one vertical where the maths can be worked out precisely, which is both its advantage and where most stores go wrong. If you know your margin and your repeat rate, you know exactly what a customer is worth and therefore what you can afford to pay for one. Stores that have not done that calculation tend to judge campaigns on return on ad spend alone and switch off channels that were quietly profitable.
The other thing worth being honest about is that most stores have a conversion problem before they have a traffic problem. Sending more paid traffic to a product page that converts poorly is the most expensive mistake available in this category — and it is the one an agency paid on ad spend has the least incentive to point out.
How we report
- Qualified enquiries, not impressions
- Cost per lead by channel and campaign
- Which searches produced revenue, not rankings
- Speed from enquiry to first response
- Return on total spend, including our fee
We are engineers as well as marketers, so when the problem is a slow page or an enquiry sitting unanswered, we fix the system rather than reporting it back to you. That includes our own lead management software.
Marketing services for retail and ecommerce
In the order we would actually prioritise them, which is rarely the order an agency sells them in.
Paid social and retargeting
Meta and Instagram campaigns built on your own customer data — purchasers, site visitors, high-value segments — rather than broad interest targeting. Retargeting sequenced by how far someone actually got, so a cart abandoner and a homepage bouncer are not shown the same ad, which is what most accounts do by default.
Product feed and Shopping campaigns
Shopping performance is largely decided by feed quality before bidding enters into it: titles, attributes, images and availability. We fix the feed first, then structure campaigns so you can see which products actually make money rather than which ones spend the most.
Conversion rate optimisation
Checkout friction, mobile performance, product page clarity and trust signals. When traffic is already paid for, a modest improvement in conversion is worth more than the equivalent increase in spend — and unlike ad budget, it does not stop working when you pause it.
Email and retention
Abandoned cart, browse abandonment, post-purchase and win-back sequences. For most stores this is the highest-margin revenue available, because the customer has already been acquired and paid for once. It is also the channel most commonly left at whatever the platform's defaults were.
Local first, wherever you are
Almost everything above depends on being found in the right place rather than everywhere. We publish a page for each market we work in, written for that market rather than templated with a name swapped, because a business in a regional hub and one in a major metro face genuinely different competition and cost.
